In managing workflow as an Associate Research Scientist, I assessed the functional roles of injury-generated newborn neurons in dentate gyrus through behavioral tasks and markers for active neurons. I carefully integrated ApoE conditional knockout mice in assessing and analyzing the role of astrocytic ApoE in adult neurogenesis, learning, and memory. I also identified the effects of different ApoE alleles on newborn neurons in the dentate gyrus with retroviral labeling approaches. The following are key contributions that I have attributed to this position thus far:• Successfully established and managed laboratory operations for senior leadership.• Trained and coached technicians while supervising undergraduate and graduate level operations within the laboratory.• Coordinated workflow and research with peer members in developing three peer-reviewed published papers• Successfully published five papers, one book chapter, and one review paper during time within the laboratory.• Secured one NIH funded R21, R56, and 1 R01 with one R01 renewal currently under review.
