It’s been 6+ years since I started at SleePare as a Product Manager, my first role in corporate; I have come a long way. My work as a Business Consultant is proof of that. 💯And now, I'm looking to lay down some roots...with EXA. Here's to new experiences! 😉

It was during COVID that I started my own digital venture with a few like-minded colleagues. 💡 It was our one-stop shop for all things digital - for 7 months at least, with clients in Pakistan, the US, the UK, and the UAE. Eventually, though, we decided to go our separate ways - no regrets either way. 🤷‍♀️After that, I mostly flew solo, providing consultancy services to clients worldwide. I held contracts in multiple sectors and multiple countries. I built my specialization in operations, project, and product management. And since most of my clients were startup founders, I became experienced in setting up the foundations of businesses in terms of strategy, processes, timelines, budgets, and teams. Occasionally, I would hire a remote team of 5-10 as well, to help manage marketing and business development initiatives for long-standing clients. 🤝

This role marked my first time being part of an active acquisition. But it took some time to get there... ⏰When the company first started, there were only a couple of us; I was working closely with the then-CEO, Roi Yosef. Our focus was mostly isolated - though with the CPO, Amir Kaufman, and the CTO, Eduard Rudyk, involved as well: setting up a roadmap, outlining future goals, and hunting investors. 💡 Eventually, we moved onto technical execution, and consequently, began syncing technical efforts with business initiatives. 🤞 By then, I was leading operations with 30 individuals working remotely from all over the world - a truly multicultural and cross-functional team! And what I loved more was building an inclusive company culture for them from scratch. 🤝Soon, we were set to be acquired by an American Holdings firm, Modern Energy. I led the process which took over 3 months; preparing legal documentation, managing the due diligence audit requirements, ensuring a smooth transition for the teams involved, all the while staying on top of all project deadlines. 💯It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. 😇 I was exposed to new practices and policies, thrived in a diverse environment, and experienced true collaboration. I got to watch something grow and succeed, being a part of it from start to finish. ❤ It’s what inspired me to later start my own thing! 😉

After a couple months working at METCO, I returned to SleePare but in a different role this time. Though I was still working with Roi Yosef and Shanir Kol - the COO and the CEO respectively - the remote team had grown from 20 to 50, spread across 5 major cities of Pakistan and leading to the creation of the Pakistan Division. 💪The responsibilities increased accordingly. My job was to make sure SleePare could keep up with its success - meet the demands of both, its employees and its customers. 🤞 This included launching two new stores in NY, setting up a Customer Support and Sales department, training the staff on CRM platforms and practices, fixing up the online ordering system, increasing our SEO efforts and improving on its techniques, and drafting company policies as well as employee contracts. 😎 We even set up an office in Lahore, since our technical team preferred working on-site. 🤷‍♀️My leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills truly got tested in this role. Staying on top of everything with a majorly remote team of this size and keeping up with the ever-changing needs of online retail...is no easy feat. 😶

An entirely new industry and a partially different role! I gave myself one week to understand how the energy sector worked and…that was an interesting week. 🤔My responsibilities were twofold; I was reporting to both - the Business Development Manager, Roi Yosef, and the Project Manager, Garet McInroe, while leading a cross-functional team of 15. 🤝 On the one hand, I was leading projects and presentations for website and business development initiatives. On the other, I was setting up and executing (twice weekly) processes for drafting responses to RFPs and RFQs. I even set up the HR and consequent hiring procedures. 🖖I grew a lot in this role. As a Product Manager at SleePare, I was involved in everything - most of it being customer-oriented and online - but my growth was more evident on the technical side. As a Business Analyst at METCO, there always had to be a certain way of doing things, with their official procedures and proposals, which meant that I learnt a lot in terms of research, analysis, and documentation. 📚

My experience in corporate started rather unexpectedly. I remember being in a tough spot and looking for more work. The freelance writing wasn’t going well and I was applying everywhere...with no luck. 💔 SleePare’s CEO, Shanir Kol, approached me on LinkedIn for the role of a Content Writer…and somehow, I missed it. I genuinely thought that was the end of it. 🤕 Apparently not! 🤷‍♀️Several months later, HR reached out and I got hired. Two weeks later though, during an all-hands-on-deck kind of situation, I somehow ended up working directly with the COO, Roi Yosef. A week later, he officially requested that I switch teams, saying I had potential for more. 👀 He mentored me to take on the role of a Product Manager at this growing online retail platform. And that moment went on to define the rest of my career. 💡By the end of these 8 months, I was leading a cross-functional team of 20, including business and data analysts, SEO experts, digital marketers, content writers, graphic designers, and website developers, all involved in projects to improve customer experience, better exploit resources, and increase profits. 🤝 Which we did, making the company a monthly revenue of $200k after just the first 6 months. 💰I got the chance to work directly with the CEO as well while communicating with stakeholders and potential investors. Set up a custom CRM and event tracking system too; that gave me a chance to develop proficiency in several tools as well. 💪
