He managed and signed multiple music recording artists to the Beggars Group in the mid-90's (June, Stella), moved to NYC, and built the new media department at the Beggars Group as Global Head of Digital. In 2003 he moved to New York's Hudson Valley and started Toolshed Inc., his digital consultancy, on a 150-year old working farm. This now continues from his home base in White Salmon, Washington, the Columbia River Gorge.Toolshed provides business development, music license acquisition services, and digital business consulting for technology, entertainment, sports, and financial/education tech partners.Dick has held long-term digital business consultant roles at Spotify, SoundExchange, Section4 (Scott Galloway's edtech startup), 8Tracks, Red Mountain ski resort, Jaxsta, and Red Bull Music Radio, as well as with dozens of market-leading independent record labels (Touch and Go, Saddle Creek, PIAS, Righteous Babe), key tech and media companies, and on behalf of hundreds of critically acclaimed music artists (Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, Anais Mitchell, Aimee Mann, Martin Sexton), all under the Toolshed banner. He holds or has held advisory or board roles at SoundExchange, Techstars accelerator winner Paperchain, Tunecore, Royalty Share, and others.Huey started his career as a performer. He is passionate about artist rights, and held an Executive Director role at Washington-based artist thinktank the Future of Music Coalition.
