I was able to rotate with 12 different specialties in the span of 1 year with at least 2000 hours of practice. Along with the core specialties I also rotated with gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, surgical subspecialties in pediatric urology, vascular and colorectal surgery and spent time in correctional medicine as well.

As a medical scribe I accompanied the surgeons in their visits with patients. I recorded the encounter on an electronic medical record. My job allowed the surgeons to spend more time with the patient and less time doing clerical work. Skills such as multi-tasking and knowledge of medical terminology along with understanding of the treatment and plans were utilized everyday.

As a server I am able to provide customers with great and attentive service. Skills such as memorization, public speaking and sales are used everyday on the job.

I was able to shadow a Physician Assistant in the ENT department. During my shadowing period I was able to learn more about the ENT field, observe surgeries and gain insight into the Physician Assistant field.

I helped file patient data and records. I also aided in doing patient call backs, making appointments, sending out patient health records, and managed patient pharmaceutical orders.

I aided Dr. Albert Tran on his clinical studies on hepatocellular carcinoma. I helped admit patients and performed the corresponding clerical work. At this internship I was also able to shadow an Immunologist, Dr. Sylvia Benzaken, in her lab.

Trujillo, Peru

During this internship I shadowed doctors and surgeons in clinics and hospitals around Trujillo, Peru. I also helped provide free healthcare to over 150 people. Furthermore, I was able to participate in outreach programs that helped educate people in rural parts of Peru on the dangers of parasites and infectious diseases.

Phoenix, Arizona Area

As a member of the Teen in Nursing Program I worked at a local Hospice of the Valley providing care for the patients. I provided patients with company, nutritional care, cleansing care, and aided the registered nurses in changing patient bandages. I dedicated 500 hours to this program.
