Design and evaluation of an industrial, passively cooled, photo-coupled solid-state relay (SSR). The challenge of this design was building an SSR with a constrained form factor without a cooling element. Increasing the efficiency to ensure low heating, while still being able to switch high power loads was key.

Feasibility research on the effects of everyday objects on Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. The research focused on both near-field and far-field with regard to these objects (e.g. DVD) and their surroundings (e.g. metal display case), which may cause challenges to the usage of RFID. Project also comprised of a successful demo and pilot inventory project.

During my internship in the US I worked on my project to build a PSU (Power Supply Unit) according the given specification. It was a big challenge due to the fact that the power supply was very high power, needed to be fully isolated, resistant to EMI & RF-noise and there was no option for cooling. I was also involved in the project management. I set up Gantt-charts, evaluated the goals, had project calls and meetings with external vendors, etc.

My graduation project concerned programming PLC’s to enable communication in five different ways (Telephone, Ethernet, GPRS, GSM & Trusted Wireless). I worked very closely with this company at a high professional level. As part of this project, I also visited major international fairs.
