The project involved creating and refining the unique geometry required for the training aid device, design of a carry case, prototype fabrication, definition of key component materials and establishing the primary manufacturing processes. Mirai assisted with the identification and selection of manufacturing partners. ComSonics Inc.Comsonics required mechanical design, component research & specification and packaging of a RF leakage detection system used in the CATV industry. This full featured hand held detector enclosure and docking cradle is engineered by Mirai Design and is comprised of a shock resistant injection molded 2 shot PC/ABS enclosure that is over molded with a thermoplastic elastomer grip . The enclosure included a number of integrated components such as a sealed control interface, light pipe and display bezel. This architecture reduced assembly costs and resulted in a more rugged package. In addition to the enclosure and dock system Mirai was responsible and involved with the specification and sourcing of the PCB layout, Li-Ion battery pack, charge system, custom charge connector and prototype fabrication. The Comsonics Sentinel unit went to production and is in commercial use.

For helmeted sports, they provide custom fitted or boil-and-bite protective mouth guards and for non-helmeted sports, a low profile headband that holds a small sensor pod against the base of the back of the athlete’s head.My work at X2IMPACT involved the engineering development, CAD design, documentation, testing and transition to manufacturing of a wireless embedded sensor mouth guard system for use in an athletic mouth-guard. I collaborated with cross functional teams in a fast paced start-up environment to deliver a complete production ready Concussion Prediction System which was deployed for validation studies to NCAA teams across the country. • Designed and developed a electro-mechanical sensor embedded mouth-guard system used to detect concussions during sports play. • Conducted material research for compatible polymers used in the rigid body of the mouth guard as well as a custom form-able interface which satisfied FDA and UL requirements.• Developed and managed computer aided models and design documentation.• Managed local and oversea suppliers for cost, prototyping and production of sub-system and related components.• Provided manufacturing support for injection molding and high volume manufacturing processes.
