During my undergraduate studies in computer sciences, I discovered through volunteering with local training and service organizations that I was meant to do more with people and technologies - resulting in a shift to elementary education, where I continued to learn how to empower students - and then teachers - on how to leverage innovative technologies to improve learning. Fast forward to FUTUREKIDS, where I worked as a School Technology Consultant and learned to create customized instruction for rural schools, and then entered into a masters program for instructional design and technology at SIU in Carbondale, IL. Again, I practiced how to leverage innovative technologies to improve learning, and began to appreciate how to differentiate instruction for people of all ages and learning profiles.Weeks before graduating with my M.S. Ed., in 2000, I was hired by Darryl Sink & Associates, Inc. in Monterey, California to team with their associates to create customized training modules with clients across the country - Washington Mutual, CBRE, Johnston Controls, Caterpillar, Girl Scouts of the USA to name a few. While preparing reusable trainings in the forms of workshops, manuals, elearning, train-the-trainer courses and more, my understanding of when, how, and why learning would occur broadened and deepened. In 2008, I decided to return to primary and secondary education when joining Stevenson School (RLS) in Carmel and Pebble Beach, where my roles evolved towards a director position in 2010 where I led new initiatives in education technology and assisted in the creation, growth and delivery of STEM programs. I accepted an invitation to create a new STEAM program at Chartwell School in Seaside, California - where my roles have evolved since 2017 as Director of STEAM & Education Technology to now Director of Academic & Assistive Technologies. Here, I continue to practice and refine my expertise in education & human development - in a place for neurodivergent learners thrive and learning profiles guide our pedagogy. Chartwell is a space where true passions for education can be found, practiced, developed - driven by both love of teaching and real educational data.I'm proud, along these most recent journeys, to have become a Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Innovator, and - soon - ISTE Certified Educator.
