About Tora Anson
My passion is using my knowledge and skills to help others achieve their goals. As an ESL teacher, I strive to learn my students' interests and include them in examples and activities to make them more interesting and relevant.I have experience in both classroom and individual teaching settings, as well as online. I have taught at all language levels, from complete beginner to advanced TOEFL preparation. My experience includes teaching all ages, from young children through seniors.I received a California State Teaching Credential in ESL, and currently have an Arizona State Teaching Certificate in Standard Adult Education.I have spent five years living in South Korea, where I initially did not speak the language, so I have first-hand experience in some of the difficulties that immigrants and foreign workers face, and I use this understanding to inform my teaching. In addition, I spent eight years in Saudi Arabia, giving me experience with living in two cultures very different from each other and from American culture. This gives me a solid base in understanding and respecting other cultures and their different social norms and expectations. I try to be the best possible resource for my students, and formulate my lessons around their needs and preferences.My goal as an ESL teacher is to aid my students by enabling them to communicate comfortably in English in a wide variety of situations, and increase their opportunities through speaking the world's most international language.
