Practicing agile leadership as a Servant Leader and People Manager for Team Monitoring, coaching, facilitating, teaching and guiding them to be self-organizing and cross-functional as a team, alongside my responsibilities for hire, fire and salary.Together with Head of Development and my Scrum Master & Team Manager colleagues, I take active part in the department management.Define and drive strategic changes in the department such as improving portfolio management through early team involvement, and cost down through improving the quality of deliveries. Worked as a developer for two months after which we begun an extensive agile transformation, and the Scrum Master role occupied all my time and interests, and I haven't looked back towards the developer role ever since.As part of the agile transformation, we reorganized from Component Driven Teams into Domain Driven Scrum Teams with End2End responsibility inspired by the Inverse Conway Maneuver.As Scrum Master, I established and nursed a stable Scrum Team with a trust-based collaboration between PO and developers, took part in establishing a Scrum Master Guild as active member, continuously collaborate with the rest of the organization to support Scrum and agile principles, etc.This agile transformation became the beginning of my personal agile journey - not least thanks to the concurrent education for Professional Agile Coach (PAC).I rapidly evolved from being unconsciously incompetent in the Scrum Master role, where I unknowingly practiced an output-focused and mechanical kind of Scrum, to being a more value-based Scrum Master with a focus on outcome and on the Scrum Team (including PO) as being the most important creator of value.

By January 2016, Danish Technological Institute took over AgroTech A/S. Apart from suddenly having 1000+ colleagues, the takeover had no effect for us in software development. Still with me as scrum master, technical team leader and R&D specialist, we remained in the same buildings, serving the same customers, nursing the same business relations, and doing the same work as before:Develop software systems from proof of concept over demo systems to ready-to-market systems.Collection and management of data with a wide variety of IoT-based sensor networks, integration with third party systems and dedicated sensor networks and systems.Statistical analysis, data mining and machine learning through development of and integration with advanced algorithms and models.

Over time, my participation in project applications increased, and I became technical project manager on several projects, hence, I got a new and more saying working title as R&D Specialist, along with still being Scrum Master for our single Scrum Team.

As more software developers came along in the Skejby department, we implemented distributed Scrum with a single Scrum Team and developers located in both Taastrup and Skejby and with me as Scrum Master.

To my interest, SEGES was willing to rent me out to AgroTech A/S, where I worked for a trial period as a software developer in their innovative and agile environment, until they decided to offer me a fulltime job.

During my PhD studies, I researched in recognizing different types of activities and movement patterns by applying machine learning on GPS based position measurements, 3D accelerometer data and electronic compass data. Through my research, I developed new methods for activity recognition along with a flexible software architecture that integrates these methods. Together, they provide recognition of various activities within different domains, including animal behavior.The research focused on recognition of dairy cows' movement patterns and led among other things to research in the characteristics of GPS usage in various indoor environments. Existing research shows a direct correlation between cows’ behavior and their individual health conditions. For instance, it may be a symptom of an early stage of sickness, if a cow’s movement pattern indicates that it eats less or spends more time lying down compared to its individual normal. Therefore, knowledge on the individual animal’s activities and movements can help the farmer point out animals in need of extra care and attention. These methods contribute to the development of better systems for improving both animal welfare and the farmers’ earnings. I did my Industrial PhD at Aarhus University for the Knowledge Centre for Agriculture (today SEGES), supervised by Professor Kaj Grønbæk and co-supervised by Cand. Agro. Thomas Andersen (SEGES) and PhD Bo Eskerod Madsen (AgroTech A/S).

Working on Mission Critical software for military use requires a high level of discipline and structure, traceability and quality assurance etc.. I was privileged to be there when Systematic was appraised the highest level of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI level 5). While retaining CMMI level 5, we also managed to successfully trim the heavy weight CMMI through a Lean and Agile mindset and by introducing Scrum.I left Systematic A/S in favour of a job as Industrial PhD-student at the Knowledge Centre for Agriculture.
