I am working with the fuel system and also with the hydraulic system of our ME-engines. The work involves fuel-profiles, testing & debugging of the hydraulic system. It also involves development of new components. I generally spend a great deal of time evaluating "performance"-data from different ships to evaluate what component that might be malfunctioning.I mainly use AMESim for hydraulic calculations.

I am part of the R&D team that works with the performance and emission of the engine. We do extensive tests on our engine program and I travel 1 to 5 times a year to our engine licensees to supervise these tests. Apart from the tests I also work with answering technical questions to customers and licensees. These two work against each other and therefore it is important to find new and better ways to satisfy both market and legislation. I primarily worked with a CFD software called KIVA. KIVA is a in-house CFD used by several universities and is not user-friendly. However, MDT developed an interface to make the code somehow "user-friendly". The aim, with the CFD code, is to see if we can predict heat load, emission formation and fuel oil consumption. About 50% of my time goes to work with parameter settings of the engines. These days almost all engines are controlled by computers and my input is to give each engine its proper "performance data". I also do a lot of R&D-tests on our production engines. These are carried out in S. Korea, Japan and China. I am also resonsible for the testing and performance of our gas-engines (methane & ethane). Very interesting and inspiring work. Show less
