My doctoral research delved into the cutting-edge realm of red blood cell preservation, aiming to address a critical challenge in medical science. Focused on innovative solutions for enhancing the longevity and integrity of red blood cells, I developed and executed a series of meticulously designed experiments. These experiments offered insights into the preservation of red blood cell membranes under hypothermic storage conditions.By leveraging advanced analytical chemistry techniques such as microscopy, ion selective electrode, and microplate reader, I closely monitored and assessed the changes in red cell membrane integrity over extended storage periods. The highlight of my research was the successful creation of a novel blood additive solution. This breakthrough solution showcased superior outcomes in preserving red blood cell membranes, offering promising prospects for improved medical interventions.In addition to my hands-on experimental work, I employed statistical analysis tools like R Studio and Excel to transform complex data into meaningful conclusions. My master's research focused on understanding the intricate interactions between sucralose, a widely used artificial sweetener, and lipid bilayers. Through advanced analytical chemistry techniques, I delved into the impact of sucralose on the behavior of lipid bilayers, shedding light on molecular changes induced by this compound.Using fluorescence titrations and infrared spectroscopy, I investigated shifts in bilayer polarity and measured changes in membrane fluidity induced by sucralose. This research provided valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between sucralose and lipid bilayers.I translated complex experimental data into precise measurements, quantifying generalized polarization values of Laurdan-tagged liposomes to offer a detailed understanding of how sucralose influences membrane properties.By effectively communicating my findings to peers and faculty, I demonstrated my ability to convey intricate scientific concepts with clarity. Additionally, I mentored and supervised a team of undergraduate students in laboratory procedures, fostering hands-on learning experiences.My master's research exemplifies my commitment to exploring the frontiers of scientific knowledge and unraveling the nuances of molecular interactions in a complex biological context.
