My name is Toril Lavender. I’m a full-time freelance, wedding and branding photographer working in the Tri-State area of Huntington, West Virginia area.I grew up in Fayetteville in upstate New York and became enthralled with photography during travels in my youth to Australia, India and Europe. I took my hobby on as a major at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications and it has become my life’s passion and work. Quickly I moved into the fascinating realm of newspaper photojournalism. Through the daily adventure of newspapers I met and married my travel companion Dave Lavender. From living in an 1810-built log cabin in Ohio, and surviving a tornado in Tennessee to moving to the urban Appalachia city of Huntington, West Virginia, we’ve forged a life less ordinary working in newspapers and magazines while raising our two wild and wonderful red-headed children Jacob and Will. With a professionally trained journalist’s eye and experience, I believe in the power of organic, documentary photography to richly tell the dynamic story of your city, your business, your wedding or your family. I live to capture those moments. The precious curves of your newborn’s first days, the joys of your wedding, the little looks between siblings, the complex beauty of the perfectly created entree, or whatever moment you hope to stop, savor and share.
