I work on creative communications projects with companies, not-for-profits, SMEs and individuals. With almost 20 years' experience working in the media industry, I've developed an array of multimedia skills that enables me to offer clients a range of services, from copywriting and editing, to design work and photo/video production.I work with individuals and businesses to help tell their stories and showcase their products and services. Working with a brand's ethos and vision I craft custom copy, create on-brand imagery and short films that capture the essence of a brand's messaging, design bespoke branded deck/report templates, and manage creative content projects from initial idea development through to final output.As a freelance journalist and writer I've contributed words and images to magazines, newspapers, online journals and book publishers, such as BBC Countryfile, Guardian, inews, The Simple Things, Waterfront (Canal & River Trust) and Pavilion Books. My work tends to focus on stories about the outdoors, nature, the environment, slow adventures, and culture, people and places.I am the author of the North Devon Coast & Countryside guidebook (National Trust; 2018) and Slow Adventures: Unhurriedly Exploring Britain’s Wild Places (Pavilion Books; 2021).

During my time at Exeter College I rewrote the course curriculum for the vocational Level 3 BTEC Print-Based Media course and led the delivery and assessment of the two-year programme. I also worked with a colleague to develop the UAL Journalism & Social Media course, which replaced the BTEC course in Sept 2017.

For six months each year I worked as the Development Manager of WildPhotos, an international wildlife and environmental photography symposium run annually by the conservation NGO Wildscreen. This was a highly varied event management role that required me to use my organisational and communications skills to plan, prepare and develop the three-day event at the Royal Geographical Society in London attended by international speakers, industry experts and the general public.

I was on the preliminary judging panel for the international Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in 2008 and 2009.
