My name is Torre Minter and I graduated from Augusta State University on May 9, 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. I recently taught at North Atlanta International Academy as an English Pre-K Teacher for two years, to obtain experience to further my career in education.I completed my student teaching in the Richmond County Public School System in a Kindergarten class. During the 5 month placement I was inspired by the progress and enthusiasm the students showed towards learning and the time I spent with them. I enjoyed the freedom my apprenticeship teacher allowed me to have to develop interactive lessons and projects. The lessons and projects that I created for the students allowed the students to participate openly and take an active role in their learning. As an educator, it is my philosphy to help students feel comfortable in their classroom environment, take ownership of their learning, and achieve their personal goals.In addition to student teaching in kindergarten, I have had an opportunity to work with third grade and fifth grade. I have tutored students in various subjects and worked with students grades Pre-K through seventh as an after school volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Augusta.
