I managed the firmware team, handled system design and contributed to manufacturing efforts for an ultra low power breath and heart rate sensor. The product came with unique challenges as it is fully sealed and not rechargeable, resulting in low tolerance for error. Spire Health Tag is changing the way wearables are perceived. This was a BLE device running on a Cortex M4F. See Spire Health Tag. I was personally responsible for design and implementation of:• BLE interfaces between device and BLE controller.• Factory testing and verification, including building test harnesses and test modes.• Ultra Low Power software design and optimization.• Data pipeline design from device to backend, including internal storage efficiency, scability and extensibility.• Full firmware architecture and tangential projects, including all testing frameworks.• Device security, including protecting firmware, data storage, and providing authentication of server and client when transferring data.

While on extended travels, I mentored and advised Soofa’s engineering team with the design and implementation of their embedded product offerings. I contribute with board design, firmware development and system design with the goal of preparing the products for larger scale deployments. I worked on the design and implementation of Automatic’s third generation product for the connected car. I collaborated closely with the server and backend teams to develop a secure and efficient communication strategy between the device and the server. Most of the work has focused on a 32-bit ARM core running FreeRTOS. While at Automateic, I directly worked on:• Designed and implemented a communication interface for efficiency and scability between the device and the server.• Implementation of radio layer with 3G cellular modems.• Secure communication design between device and server using embedded implementations of SSL/TLS.
