They have attended either the full Basic Police Academy or a Reserve Police Officer Academy to obtain their certification. They are either Level II Reserves that ride with other full-time officers, or Level I Reserves that are allowed to patrol the streets as a solo beat officer.Reserve Officers volunteer a minimum of 24 hours per month, but many of them spend much more time than that working to keep the streets of Marina safe. Additionally, they attend monthly Reserve Officer training sessions, qualify quarterly with their duty weapons and attend other departmental trainings in order to keep their skills sharp.
