- Directed messages to staff spanning 12 subcommittees and 146 Appropriations employees; implemented tracking and log systems for incoming printed documents; sorted and documented mail for distribution to Chairwoman Lowey, the 12 subcommittees, and Members’ offices - Responded to over 50 phone calls a week from staff and constituents pertaining to subjects within the scope of the Committee, including calls and letters with sensitive information- Developed and updated digital Committee databases; created a physical filing system for Committee documents spanning from the 113th to the 116th Congress; assisted in preparation for Committee hearings; trained in constituent response writing

- Conducted research across a variety of issue areas including the application of public health measures in response to the overdose crisis, criminal justice reform, and harm reduction practices; wrote memos, briefs, summaries, and letters to federal and state-level policymakers, as well as other key stakeholders, on the basis of in-office research; employed research for policy development purposes in coordination with partner agencies such as the Leadership Conference and the ACLU- Drafted two op-eds for placement throughout the U.S. to educate the public on evidence-based approaches to drug policy; built Excel databases to track the movement of legislation and data on state prison populations- Assisted in federal lobbying activities on Capitol Hill, public outreach, and event management at the National Cannabis Festival and Policy Summit, with over 20,000 attendees

- As a member of a four-person team, collected and organized data for the development of Cover Climate reports and memos; presented research to support messaging, talking points, and other communications on climate and energy-related issues ranging from public health risks to renewable energy alternatives- Codified written and broadcast media from outlets across the U.S. within Excel to evaluate the media’s use of language to discuss global heating in relation to weather events- Drafted three reports evaluating the media’s performance for release to the press and over 500,000 activists; assisted with administrative tasks including the organization and use of research databases such as Westlaw and LexisNexus

- Constructed and restored trails as part of a diverse ten person crew across five work sites throughout California and Nevada, in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service - Trained in trail construction methods, general restoration management, safety, and Leave No Trace; utilized dry-stone masonry skills including rock splitting, supervision of the grip hoist, and the use of rock bars- Promoted local civic engagement by leading an AmeriCorps Service Project with 10+ community volunteers
