USC Core Center for Excellence in Nano Imaging - Superuser responsible for maintenance, user training, and operation of JEOL 2100 TEM and Veeco AFM, and secondary superuser for Bruker D8 XRD, NanoSEM 450, and Talos Cryo TEM.

Built, maintained, and operated an ultra-high vacuum pulsed laser deposition system for the epitaxial growth of complex oxide thin films and heterostructures. Specialization in RHEED and in situ Auger electron surface analysis of thin films in real time during the deposition process with extensive data analysis and modeling.

Synthesized and characterized new correlated materials, with an emphasis on high temperature superconductors and magnetic materials. Worked with postdocs and graduate students on a number of projects, while mentoring newer undergraduates in the lab. Intimate familiarity with the molten flux single crystal growth method, with expertise in solid-state reaction, arc-melting, and vapor transport growth methods. Extensive experience with x-ray diffraction and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy techniques, as well as cryogenic physical and magnetic property measurement systems for characterization of structural, compositional, and electronic and magnetic properties. Developed recipes and methods for growing high quality single crystals of numerous known and novel compounds.
