Tory Stening is an archaeologist experienced in both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal archaeology and cultural heritage management with an expertise in stone tool analyses. She is experienced in both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal archaeological survey, assessment, excavation and recording. Tory has a detailed understanding of the process of stone tool manufacture and is experienced in the cataloguing and analyses of Aboriginal stone tools. She has a Master of Arts (Archaeology) from the University of New England. Her Master’s Thesis was an analyses of stone tools excavated at Cowra.Tory has specialist knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of historic buildings. She has undertaken training in the Conservation of Traditional Buildings and works closely with property owners to ensure best practice management. Tory prepares Statements of Heritage Impact and Conservation Management Plans. She has also completed Level 1 of the International Nautical Archaeological Service’s Maritime Archaeology course conducted by the Australasian Institute of Maritime Archaeology in Sydney.Tory is a full member of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists (M.AACAI), Australasian Society of Historical Archaeologists, the Australian Archaeological Association, the Australasian Institute of Maritime Archaeology, the International Committee on Monuments and Sites and the World Archaeological Congress. She was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in May 2010.
