I work each day to educate Houston's diverse public about the essential things the Houston Police Department does to keep them safe, healthy and cared for. This means writing, shooting and producing videos promoting police community services offered and highlighting events where HPD reaches out to lend citizens a helping hand.I regularly work with my team to stream live press conferences and public meetings when important messages need to be shared with the community live as they happen.I also produce internal videos that keep HPD officers educated and informed about the latest best practices when it comes to training. This is essential in keeping the public and officers safe.Each day, Houston police officers put their lives on the line to serve and protect he public. While many like to focus on mistakes made, I seek to highlight the greater good officers do through their commitment to protecting and serving the Houston community.

My communication skills and easy rapport with others sets clients as well as video subjects right at ease.I have also contributed to nationally syndicated programs like "PBR" (Professional Bull Riders) for CBS, "Mary Lou's Flip Flop Shop" (a children's program for PBS) and "Teen Talk" (a nationally syndicated talk show on the CW hosted by teens for teens), as well as the internationally-syndicated "Winning Walk" (a weekly religious program seen across the U.S., China and India).

Starting in Tv studio production, my role grew to include reporting, writing, producing, field photography, video editing, floor directing and post-production. As I moved into a reporter-producer position, I pushed myself to deliver a high-quality product under tight deadlines. I was recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for my skills as writer, photographer, editor and producer with 15 Emmy nominations and three Emmy awards (including one in 2016 for Best News Series in Texas). I was also voted Most Helpful Production Employee by my peers at the station..One of my proudest accomplishments at Channel 39 was working on the environmental program "Going Green with Yolanda Green,." It allowed a staff of just three others and I to shine a light on the growing green movement in Houston. In just two and a half years on the air, we managed to rack up 10 Emmy nominations for the program and build quite a following in the Houston community that I continue to encourage through a "Going Green" facebook page.In 2014, I spearheaded a new collaboration with "Houstonia" magazine whereby each week I turned one of their written stories into a TV feature called "The Inside Story from the Pages of Houstonia." Writing, shooting and editing these diverse, in-depth segments in advance of the magazine's publication was a challenging and rewarding learning process. The segment was Emmy-nominated two years in a row as Best Human Interest News Series in Texas, taking the prize in 2016. During the time of our collaboration, "Houstonia" grew to become Houston's top-selling local magazine.

At various times at the longtime #1 station in Houston, I ran robotic, jib and handheld cameras on every newscast they produced, as well as working a daily talk show, parades, community affairs programs, food and blood drives, sports programs and specials. I also regularly ran the Chyron Infinit! graphic generator for these programs, creating animations for special events. From the prompter to the studio lights to the chromakey, if it had to do with TV production, I had my hand in at some time while I was there. Added bonus: working with the legendary Marvin Zindler who took down the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas!
