• Perform current state assessments on financial systems and internal controls• Assist clients with audit remediation tasks• Provide business process, risk mitigation and internal control improvement recommendations• Review, analyze, monitor financial expenditures by developing and maintaining project cost schedules• Provide on demand accounting and project management services

• Provide fiscal and accounting consultating services to state departments and various levels of management• Develop, enhance, and test new functions for California’s Oracle-based enterprise resource planning software called Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)• Develop and enhance queries (data extraction tools) in FI$Cal PeopleSoft for other state departments to use• Prepare and conduct formal and informal trainings on fiscal policies and accounting processes to other state departments• Perform various accounting duties including, but not limited to fund and account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, performing month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements, and processing invoices• Review and update the policies within the State Administrative Manual• Review, analyze and formally respond to departments’ requests to establish or amend Special Deposit Funds and Plan of Financial Adjustments• Assist with the department’s staff recruiting efforts by preparing promotional materials and attending recruitment events

• Perform monthly fund and general ledger account reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy• Analyze and resolve discrepancies between the department’s and the State Controller’s Office financial records• Prepare and submit financial statements for multiple state funds• Respond to program staff inquiries on activities within state funds• Record accounting entries for multiple state funds

• Record accounting entries for cash receipts and accounts receivables• Prepare and process daily deposits to send to the bank• Review and audit refund requests• Establish and monitor accounts receivables to ensure collection letters are sent out timely• Communicate with program staff to ensure deposits are received and sent to the bank timely• Respond to customer inquiries via email and phone
