Part-time, evening classroom teaching that introduced career-change minded students to Data Science using Python.

Our team sought to bring location intelligence to the market. Consulted closely with the CEO and Product Team to identify and develop analytic products that clients would find useful.Developed, mentored, and led a small team of junior data scientists through the rocky shoals of developing those products from spatial data. We applied sophisticated machine learning to very large sensor datasets (100MM rows daily) to learn behavioral patterns from the way people interact with space. (ensemble learning: random forests, gradient boosting; cluster analysis)

Part of a (then) new, advanced analytics team extracting insights from previously inaccessible, large, weblog datasets (100MM rows daily) to understand online customer behavior. Our research informed insights into customer journey, sales attribution, and media mix analyses. We pioneered the use of big data tools (AWS EMR, Hadoop) within Digitas, we formalized practices for understanding large datasets, and moved to democratize the use of big data.

Shanahan Fellow for Advanced Study in Demography, 2010-2012.My training focused on formal demographic methods, population research, and applied social statistics.As a research assistant, I did a lot of the analytic heavy lifting to wrangle data, fit and interpret models (log-linear, non-linear, non-parametric models), and visualize the results in support of a multi-year NSF-funded research project on US interstate migration patterns of the foreign born (see papers below).Worked closely with the co-Principal Investigators to envision research questions, design the studies, and execute the analyses on projects that examined the social/contextual effects on migration probabilities and STEM Labor Markets
