The role directly leads to the increase in Indigenous people’s workforce participation and promotes Indigenous people as a valuable source of labour for Alberta employers. The IPC strategizes, supports, facilitates connections and collaborates with Indigenous organizations, leadership and technicians, Stakeholders, Training Providers, Industry and Employers, and other levels of Government in the development of culturally, politically and socially minded complex initiatives and projects funded through the Indigenous Training to Employment and Labour Market Partnership grants.

Issues identification and management through the completion of critical correspondence related to contact with the department, participates in the resolution of complaints and identifies opportunities to improve operational effectiveness. Prepared briefings, correspondence, information requests for senior leadership, facilitated the development of the operational plan, and coordinated completion of quarterly reportsProvided strategic internal communications support to Director, Management Team and staffLead, coordinated and supported the development of new initiatives and strategies that supported the delivery of programs, as assigned by the Director. Facilitated the development of the Operational Plan, coordinated completion of quarterly reporting.

Conducted needs assessment interviews to determine career, employability, educational, employment and financial needs. Determined eligibility for income support programs and authorized funding for students.Assisted individuals in job finding and counselled them to maintain employment.

Worked with adults with acquired traumatic brain injury as well as seniors to provide a range of services including: daily living assistance, community access, occupational and physical therapy assistance, and companion care. Program manager role over saw the hiring, training and managing of support workers and the programs developed and delivered to clients. Scheduling and reporting to funders was integral functions of the role.
