About Tejas Patel, Ph.D.
CFD, some like to call it "Colorful Fluid dynamics".I was born in India, went to school in Dubai and grew up both in, Gujarat and Michigan. I am Indian at heart but diverse by culture and habits. Ever since high school, I have been curious and amazed by physical flow phenomenon. In my mind, I always think: "It will be so cool to capture it on computers". I got my first chance in junior year, when my fluid mechanics professor mentored me to teach CFD. In no time, I self-learned differential equations and numerical methods. In my final year project, I studied shallow water equations, interface instabilities, multiphase flows, and single bubble dynamics. For 3 years, I was also a part of the college team that participated in BAJA SAE INDIA where I led the wheel assembly and brake design team. Collectively, I became proficient in C, C++, python coding and multiple CAD/FEA softwares. My passion for flow physics, led me to pursue my PhD at Michigan State University where I currently work in the Computational bio-mechanics lab. I develop Fluid Structure Interaction algorithms and study complex cardiovascular flows using Finite Element Method. I also have experience with High performance computing and scalability on local clusters at MSU. My current project involves simulating Cryoballoon Ablation for Pulmonary Vein Isolation in cardiac chambers. My curiosity has helped me explore, enjoy and develop a broad experience in the field of fluid mechanics. My research interests include fluid structure interactions, aerodynamics of vehicles/bikes, flow turbulence, bio-fluid flows, multiphase and compressible flows. Currently, I am actively looking for 2023 full time job opportunities as a CFD engineer. When not at work, I love to travel, play table tennis, and badminton. I also enjoy watching f1, climbing, photography and swing dancing. Reach out if you share common interests or simply want to chat with me.
