After I lost my family in 2016, the ideal of brotherhood appealed to me and I made a right turn in my career into law enforcement. I had already been recruited for and volunteered with the Surveillance team of the Ft Lauderdale Police Department. With my typical creativity, diligence and ingenuity, I started a nightly two-hour newscast from the balcony of my condo in on domestic and local law enforcement with common-sense commentary as well. It became very popular with police professionals as their only dedicated source of this specialized news at the time and soon was plugged into police band radio.

Airborne Ground ControlBroward Sheriff'S Office (Bso)Fort Lauderdale, Fl, Us -
Airborne Ground ControlBroward Sheriff'S Office (Bso) Feb 2024 - PresentUnited StatesOn a night-to night basis, I ensure our conventional, undercover, “black ops”/“red flag” chopper pilots do not tipple off our ships, “top-of-the-sky” heliports and oceanfront air bases and thus require diversion of mission: ejected crew, disabled choppers, additional victims below. Every evening, I present an in-the-air exhibition on air safety, combat ops and abiding by the established chain of command. Now been considered by the Governor as the “outside the box” candidate to replace the current Sheriff who is under multiple investigations for criminal activities. (REDBroward, December) I have no history of investigations, inquiries or audits over many years at the Federal or State levelI am considering a run for the position in 2024. The BSO is one of the largest Sheriffs Departments in the US and the largest in Florida with 6,000 employees and an annual budget of $750 million. -
Undercover AgentBroward Sheriff'S Office (Bso) May 2021 - Dec 2021Ft LauderdaleWith direction, developed, designed, led and played multiple roles in three criminal investigations into a day labor contractor, class abuse and prejudice within a minority community. The latter two cases required balancing the law with Constitutional rights, morals, extenuating circumstances and the hard reality of possible jail or prison time. -
Special Agent TraineeAn Anomynous Crime-Fighting Group With Multiple Missions Including Prevention Of Domestic Terrorism Mar 2018 - Feb 2020South FloridaAgain I was recruited for training and development as an undercover agent which included 18 months of 7-day weeks in survival training, over 1,000 miles of running, swimming and walking integrated into various exercises, signaling, and undercover tradecraft. In addition, in my site management and writing (2.4M readers) niche for Quora.com, I found monitoring associated sites on social media an effective tool to learn about plans for domestic terror.

Ceo & Lobbyist/Spokesperson/AdvocateTravis P. Dungan & Co., Inc Dec 2002 - Jan 2010Ft LauderdaleGovernment and Public Affairs Advocate with strategic and marketing advice for companies and organizations. I tried to balance my intellect, diverse experience, personal insight and passion for firms or engagements with missions and values I found exciting and worthwhile. My clients included: The airline DayJet, a seat-by charter carrier, that hoped to develop lower-tier airports and spark single-day air travel throughout the Southeast, PBS&J, Florida's original and largest engineering firm, in all aspects of high-speed rail,American Consulting Engineers, a growing out-of state firm in helping Mexico Beach, FL reinvent and fund its downtown and Beach after a large developer bought up all the prime land by relocating the coastal highway. During the development of Florida's first State "defined contribution" retirement plan, I represented TIAA, the financial conglomerate, before Governor Bush to include their real estate investment vehicle as an option (just like the Governor's own investments). For the Tampa Expressway Authority, I recommended Federal funding options for its elevated Crosstown X-Way express lanes. AAn Israeli-Venezuelan venture for which I introduced "SmartPark," a stored-value parking device that replaced cash at meters and pay stations. A firm that developed a luggage security system that I helped modify through consulting with the USDOT think tank and presenting before the DHS Transportation Security Administration, and The Florida Council of Eminent Domain Experts for whom I assembled 10 larger trade associations (Florida Chamber, AIF, NFIB, Florida Retail Federation and the Florida Bar among them) to fight that would have defunded and deprived businesses of expert advice in Land takings by the State.

Executive Director & Board MemberCoast To Coast Rail Consortium Apr 2000 - Jul 2002Celebration, FloridaI managed a non-profit consortium of 35 leading corporate, economic development, non-profit and transportation authority (air, sea, expressway, transit, taxi) CEOS from Tampa Bay, Central Florida, the Space Coast, with 100+ elected and community leaders from eight counties on advisory groups. With the counsel of numerous management consultancies, engineering firms and transportation thought leaders, we examined various train sets, technologies (mag-lev, electric, upgraded conventional), alternative routes, and costs and feasibility based on different balances of government and private funding and in-kind contributions. I assisted a number of engineering firms with preliminary design and engineering as well as constant meetings with all sizes of communities for educating, eliciting ideas and opinions and preparing the public for a vote on two Constitutional amendments. As the 20+year transportation advisor to Jeb Bush, reported progress and intermediate results to the Governor who had a keen interest in and strong skepticism about a totally government-funded project. Reported on the same to state legislators, USDOT and Amtrak, state/local press almost daily.

Vp, Strategy & MarketingAmerican Automobile Association 1992 - 1994Orlando, FloridaAdvising the Board of Directors, I envisioned and helped execute Total Customer Satisfaction in the context of 140 different auto clubs from behemoths covering half of California to Ohio clubs from which you could see one boundary to the other. Some did not stay open at night or on Sundays. Benefits varied widely from club to club. The competition from auto manufacturers and private-label services was fierce and nearly killed AAA. Met with Michelin, Hertz, National Geographic, American Express, Blue Cross board members and executives as well as the Zagats to examine alternative business models and brainstorm new ventures.
