I have a long track record of education, and work experience. I began my working life in the junk heaps of my grandfathers scrap iron business. This supported me through high school, and into college. I graduated with B.S. in Psychology from SWOSU in Weatherford, OK. With that, I worked many years as a Substance Abuse counselor, working my way up to Clinical Supervisor. I went on to earn a Masters degree in Education, Community Counseling, also from SWOSU. While working on my Masters, I designed, and implemented a 6-month intensive outpatient treatment program for Elk City Community Work Center in Elk City, Oklahoma. Working in concert with Department of Corrections, and The Department of Mental Health Substance Abuse Services, my program passed many audits, of both entities; and remained in operation well after I chose a new path. I left the education, and counseling field, to chase the newly ramping up oilfield in 2005. My love of science and engineering was mostly to blame, but the increase in pay was nice. After a few years learning the trade, my wife and I opened Orion Mudlogging, LLC in 2010. It was very successful from the start. Only a downturn like hit in 2015 could stop the momentum we had. We branched out into Contract Production work in 2016, starting Pierce Family Mudlogging and Consulting, in an attempt to keep the doors open. I worked in northwest Oklahoma as a contract pumper for almost a full year, keeping oil flowing through very tough winter conditions. Unfortunately, we closed up shop on both companies in early 2018, mostly due to my own medical issues. During my 12+ years of experience in the oilfield, 75% of it was on location while actively drilling. I worked very closely with everyone from company men, engineers, owners and geologists, all the way to directional drillers and investors. My experience on drilling, and production, makes me an ideal candidate for any serious Gas/ Oil, or service company. I have a working knowledge of practically every position on location.After spending some time teaching again, and managing a local garage/ tire shop, COVID shut me down in early 2020. I am now ready to explore new options, and chase new dreams. My interests are as broad as my skills, so the future surely holds something amazing. Currently I am teaching Middle School science, and an Alt Ed program in Erick Public School. I have also recently started an EMBA through Valar Institute. With that, I intend to either take another hard look at the oilfield, or continue pursuing a new career in Education.
