I am a researcher in the field of applied mathematics with a strong emphasis on software development.For the last 15 years or so, I have been working on scientific projects where mathematical ideas and physical models are developed into software implementations. Most importantly, this includes my PhD and postdoctoral research on planetary and galactic dynamics (see Publications).In addition to the astrophysical systems, I have also worked with, e.g., environmental (watershed) and biological models. In mathematics, or mathematical physics, my expertise lies in differential equations, Hamiltonian systems, and phase-space geometry. However, through my education, I am also familiar with other areas of applied mathematics and a multitude of numerical methods and statistical tools.In software development my goal is to produce high quality, general, and reusable code. This is hopefully manifested in my current project, Torus Gravis, which gathers various numerical algorithms of planetary and galactic dynamics under the same codebase (see Projects). After concluding a postdoc period and a long-running research project, where the theme was to find universal methods of constructing invariant phase-space tori (an important problem, e.g., in creating self-consistent models of galaxies), I am now working as a software developer for Space Systems Finland. I participate in developing software for a spectrograph instrument.
