Reports to the President, Austal USA.Responsible for the overall performance of the Littoral Combatant Ship (LCS) new construction program to the budgeted cost, schedule and requisite quality.Single point of contact for customer interface.Provides coordination, guidance and direction to Ship Management ensuring work performed meets major milestones, cost and quality objectives.Interfaces with Contracts, Production, Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Production Departments to meet company objectives.Manages key relationships and resolution of issues with all regulatory bodies (SUPSHIP, NAVSEA 05, USCG, ABS)

Responsible for determining the overall strategic direction and business contribution of General Dynamics - NASSCO Engineering Department consisting of ~280 Systems Engineers, Naval Architects, Designers, and Field Technicians.Focus on safety, continuous process improvement, first time quality and EVMS data resulting in outstanding performance on all programs.Team builder, focused on support of Planning, Production, Repair Departments, US Navy and Commercial Operators (TOTE, APT, SEACOR). Champion for Lean Six Sigma projects and cross department Value Stream Mapping exercises designed to identify and eliminate waste and improve efficiency across the shipyard. Refined Design for Production (DFP) principles focusing on Design/Build teams, use of on site Engineering Liaison Team to solve problems, participate in After Block Reviews, capture lessons learned and enable ship to ship learning.Led the Initial Design and Naval Architecture, Systems Engineering and Detail Design efforts leading to the construction of the Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) to include the Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB) variant. Focused on completing design prior to starting construction, first time design quality and providing liaison support for Production. Contributed to best lead ship performance in NASSCO history. Responsible for integration of design of the world's first LNG powered containership for TOTE as well as the design of a series of ECO Tankers for APT and SEACOR with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Engineering Company (DSEC). Both designs delivered on time and under budget to the shipyardResponsible for the development of engineering processes and program management to include early opportunity assessment, capture management, proposal development and other advance program tasks.

Assessed business opportunities for shipbuilding, conversion, repair of US Government, Commercial and Overseas ships. Assessed opportunities to provide Engineering Services to other shipyards and organizations.Led development initial capture plans to include technical and financial considerations for opportunities in early stages to include assessment of market potential, competition, potential partners and probability of success (Pwin).Maintained liaison with US Navy, Industry Leaders, Members of Congress and decision makers keeping them apprised of NASSCO core capabilities, capacity, business issues and initiatives.Acted as focal point for Executive Staff for coordination of all Government and Corporate Relations to include VIP visits.Served as NASSCO's representative for Local, State and Federal trade associations to include the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.Instrumental in the capture of new business to include signing of five vessel follow on contract for T-AKE 10-14 ($3.1B), securing five ship Product Carrier contract ($600M) and four ship MLP/AFSB contract ($2B) as well as several Multi Option, Multi Ship (MSMO) contracts for Repair.
