Oversaw and grew the Marine Operations team for Pilot’s daily shipping needs across the globe while increasing the operational safety of cargo ops including vessel & terminal vetting guidelines:• Creation of the internal Vessel Vetting Program including OFAC searches to comply with Russian Sanctions• Implementation of the Duty Draw Back Process which saw in its first run over $1 million claw back• Set Up the Vessel Vetting Program for all Spot and Term Chartered vessel plus its record retention including using outside 3rd Party Vendors for Technical Expertise• Participate in Oil Trading and Scheduling Platform Software Upgrade (RightAngle) including using a subset of the program that was not active• Covered team members scheduling needs while out on vacation* Scheduled all Biodiesel (TME & SME) as well as all Renewable Diesel vessels in and out of the US, Europe and Asia

Schedule all West Coast, Gulf Coast, Panama and Brazil cargo vessels for Gasoline, Biodiesel, Renewable Diesel and Fuel Oil including oil terminal storage locations in Brownsville, Texas and Cristobal, Panama.Chartered all US Jones Act Vessels both spot and term for the trading desks as needed.

Scheduled and managed the US Trade Execution Team (based in Houston and Minneapolis). This team was responsible for all North American Crude Oil, Petroleum Products, and Chemical's trade execution and logistics by vessels, barges, pipelines, rails, trucks and storage, including inventory management and blending optimization. This included Contracts department and US Trade Risk Management.

Recruited to the Cockett Group, a global bunker supplier and trader, to build and manage their US office. Led North America marketing for the Cockett Group in the commercial shipping, and upstream exploration market segments. Handled all trades, brokering, sales, operations for North & Central America, and Caribbean based business. .• Increased client list and name recognition by attending various shipping and exploration & production conferences.• Re-established company as a global provider with clients such as BG GROUP, SLB, KOCH, and PHILLIPS 66.• Negotiated pricing agreements and supply contracts with multiple clients

Provided tracking and management of bunkers for ConocoPhillips’ worldwide fleet, approx. 30+ vessels. Tasked with not only getting the lowest price but to manage the position and capture cost improvement against Platt’s Bunkerwire pricing. Acted as a center point for 3 global marine offices to maximize port time, routing, and eliminate deviation & laytime. Directed all bunker claims and resolutions.• Handled operating budget of several hundred million dollars.• Helped develop and manage risk profile for suppliers & inspection companies.• Led a Bunker Supplier Terms & Conditions Contract Database development team.• Provided guidance & execution of external Export Compliance Clause’s in line with US and UK Law.

Interfaced daily with 15 Petroleum Traders to provide voyage pricing, market intelligence, and trading opportunities for each of their respective markets. Liaised weekly with 9 internal refineries, 10 internal terminals, and multiple 3rd party leased tank terminals to make sure all chartered equipment was being fully utilized. Responsible for all Spot, Term and COA Chartering for US Products coverage to allow smooth operation across Supply and Trade business lines. • Controlled 15 – 20 vessels at various times for both internal and external cargo moves.• Created or negotiated terms and condition including rider clause’s with an effort to reduce risk, exposure, and cost.• Served as 24 hour supervising and point of contact to operations desk for claims, incidents, cargo and daily issues.• Increased revenue, profit, and utilization for 3 years in a row.• Served on the Marine Risk Incident Review Panel as Commercial Marine / Trader Floor advisor.• Oversaw project to limit California tax liability for new build vessel saving approx. $9 million in tax exposure.• Point of Contact for out-chartering deals with US Department of Defense, Major Oil Companies, and Trading Houses. • Negotiated settlements for claims for damage, cargo off-spec & opportunity loss, and broker’s errors & omissions. • Served on Commercial Marine Strategy Team for my responsible area.

Provided day to day operational overview of controlled Heavy Product vessels in North America ports. Advised schedulers, charterers, and traders with updates of vessel’s voyage from interactions with vessels’ Master, vessel owners’, brokers, agents, cargo counterparties, inspectors, and terminals. • Created, approved, and/or tracked: freight invoices, port costs, fuel & lube invoices, re-billables, and onhire/offhire.• Managed yearly vessel owner contract performance meetings (bunkers, speed, loading/discharge, heating, cleaning).• Responsible for all paper and electronic voyage document folders as well as audit issues.• Negotiated Assist Tug Price Agreement for West Coast North America ports for all term vessels, reducing voyage costs.• Acted as 2nd Charterer for out of office and vacation coverage.

Oversaw 11 vessels owned and operated by Moran including 40 crew, 1 in-house accounting staff and 1 operations assistant. Responsible for all voyage orders, scheduling, cargo load planning and stability, scheduling of all repairs and compliance with port/state control inspections, vetting inspections, and incident response coordinator. Managed all laytime, demurrage, invoicing, rebills, creation of monthly warranty metrics for customers, and represent company at meetings with counterparties. Handled both spot and short term voyage charters. Shared business developement duties with Chartering Manager and Vice President of Transportation.• Led campaign to install Veson IMOS software, as well as moving from paper to electronic voyage files.• Re-negotiated 5 year Term contact with New England Power Plant provider.• Participate in discussions which led to 3 new build construction contracts.

Started my career during summers thru college in the non-licensed side of the deck department onboard various types of commercial shipping vessels. Proceeded to increase my license and scope of responsibilities until I was serving as Master in charge of both petroleum bulk and dry bulk cargos.
