Project Engineer for a landslide adjacent to a state highway where progressive failures have influenced a section of roadway. Performed a back analysis of the site geometry and soil conditions to derive strength parameters for providing a permanent design solution. Project Engineer for the rehabilitation of an embankment of an irrigation pond that experienced a failure due to erosion from an adjacent stream. Coordinated with NRCS to understand dam classification and design standards to consider. Project Engineer for monitoring natural arch structures that span a state highway. Assisted in providing instrumentation means and methods to provide long- and short-term monitoring methods of the arches.

Provided shoring designs which utilized soil nails, soldier piles, ground anchors, and walers to provide safe and effective solutions for excavation and permanent cuts. Provided micropile designs for foundations placed over compressible soils. Performed field studies for residential developments ranging in size from single-lot reports to large subdivisions. Performed proof and verification tests on soil nails, ground anchors, and micropiles.

I managed a variety of projects that involve mass grading, hill-side grading, residential and commercial site exploration and analysis, and bay-margin sites. I interacted with clients to portray our understanding of the site and what we can value engineer to assist in the success of the project and our clients.

I worked with Dr. Robert Gilbert in evaluating bridge foundation reliability. We focused on the use of drilled shafts and how, as a system, reliability can be measured. Through the use of work-energy methods, we analyzed bridge bents and how designing each pile for the "worse-case" scenario often leads to redundancy. The focus of our research was how to quantify the redundancy and reliability of the bridge foundation as a system and promote more efficient designs for the future.

I was a field engineer for a number of unique geotechnical engineering projects. In my spare time, while attending school, I worked as a drafter.

A majority of my time was spent within the lab performing geotech related tests. I spent time in the field as a quality assurance/quality control engineer for geotech related projects.
