Passionate about creating and implementing programs to help underrepresented candidates join the Walbec team. Liaison for the Apprenticeship Office and Union to promote strong collaboration and to maintain compliance and consistency with union hiring practices. Worked with the HR team to refer candidates and develop processes to help retain workers. Collaborated with Jobs for the Future (JFF) and was the first contractor to sign the DEIA Pledge, a community of local, state, and national employers and labor partners that increase access to underrepresented populations in Registered Apprenticeship. Developed and implemented outreach and recruitment strategies with high schools, community-based organizations, and other entities in order to increase interest in the roadbuilding construction industry. Recognized as a subject matter expert on state apprenticeship and workforce strategies. Represented the Walbec Group on multiple local and state committees.

Responsible for running the BIG STEP Pre-Apprenticeship Program with oversight of 15+ staff members. Worked with contractors, construction unions and other stakeholders to develop creative strategies to meet workforce needs while creating a diverse pipeline of workers; led incumbent worker training. Implemented a process for identifying Workforce Innovation Opportunities Act (WIOA) and FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) candidates to leverage funding. Developed, implemented, and facilitated a labor management Industry Sector Partnership to help drive the mission of the organization. Worked directly with the Milwaukee Building Construction Trades Council on workforce needs for large scope projects, attended Principal meetings, and assessed contractors needs to develop innovative solutions to workforce challenges. Implemented lunch and learn events to bring together union and contractor representatives to learn about new projects and workforce requirements.

Worked with Milwaukee Building & Constructions Trade Council on assessing workforce needs for upcoming projects and Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATC). Spearheaded a mentoring program with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 494.

Developed material for the BIG STEP tutoring program, provided oversight of tutors, was responsible for tracking enrollment and graduation for students, met with students to assess their needs, and connected them with apprenticeship opportunities.
