Tracey-Lea Smith is a UNESCO Focal Point Geelong City of Design | Coordinator Creative City Geelong. Colleagues describe them as "Tracey-Lea was a fabulous addition to the Arts & Cultural Management teaching team in 2022, taking on the role of Lecturer with the 'Managing Arts in Community Settings' unit. Tracey-Lea's extensive arts management and local government experience made her ideal for this role. She brought professional and cutting edge insights into the work needed to facilitate the collaboration of professional artists and communities to create new and distinctive artworks. As a highly experienced practitioner Tracey-Lea was able to share nuanced understanding of this work with students and build their higher order skills and knowledge of Community Arts and Cultural Development practice. Tracey-Lea also took the lead with a number of new teaching and learning opportunities for our postgraduate students. In particular, she raised consultation for the new National Cultural Policy as a valuable learning opportunity. Students were encouraged to contribute ideas for the new policy and take on an advocacy role in shaping the policy in relation to their own work, organisations and vision for the sector. I hope to involve Tracey-Lea in our Arts & Cultural Management program again in the future. She was an asset for the course and our students were lucky to gain from her experience and insights."
