Starting as a leader in the Assurance and Advisory team in the Canberra office of PWC. My principle area of technical expertise relates to the statutory audits of mid ASX listed companies and large private companies. The clients I service are predominantly in the Adventure Tourism, Technology, Mineral and Mining, Education, Wholesale, and Import and Distribution Industries. A shift in focus and passionate interest in Cyber Security has evolved and since November 2020, i've been working within the Security Estate Group within Defence. The Defence Industry Security Program was developed in April 2019 and we have been an integral partner in generating in excess of 1200 members to the program. The program relies on multiple stakeholders to ensure Industry are meeting the minimum security standards to partner with Defence. Moving into the DISP co-ordinator role allowed for stakeholder relationships to form with industry and other Defence groups. AGSVA, Department of Security Assurance, Learning and Development branch, Counter Intelligence unit and the Security Incident division all contribute to the success of DISP membership for Industry and building those day to day relationships is critical to the success of the program. I relocated to Canberra, from Perth in 2013, and have been very focused in building a new client base. Leading a team of up to 25, with a client base of over 100. RSM clients include government funded entities, listed public companies, large proprietary companies and auditing on behalf of the Office of Auditor General. Key achievements:• Strengthened the audit team by leading them in the testing, training, system implementation and roll-out of a new software package for auditing, CaseWare. Over 130 client files successfully transferred to CaseWare at the 30 June financial year end. • Developed a financial report writing model, from a word based template to an integrated word/excel combination driving from accounting packages. Saving in excess of 10 chargeable hours on each client. • Manage team resources of up to 25 staff to ensure healthy profitability and within budget on all engagements and maximum staff utilisation increasing profitability on engagements. • Standardised audit processes by providing training to auditors and support staff, resulting in more efficient processes through a more uniform and systematic approach.

Perth

WA’s market leading dairy company collecting over 144 million litres of milk from over 60 dairy farmers annually. Brownes has a turnover of over $200M, 350 staff, 4500 customers, 5 separate legal entities and a fixed asset register in excess of $130M. Formed an independent finance team on site after the branch was sold by Fonterra.Key achievements • Prepare all statutory financial statements for 5 entities from the date of acquisition of the entity. Successfully obtained audit clearance on 3 consecutive financial years within 4 months of commencement. • Created a trial balance to reflect all acquisition accounting transactions, after two contract re-negotiations due to the milk price drop in supermarkets in 2010.• Design, implementation, training and post implementation of an entirely new ERP system for all sub-ledgers, including $30M receivables, $20M payables, $130M fixed asset register. Managed and prioritised more than 50 defects arising from the new system.

GESB is a $2 Billion superannuation fund, administering the super and retirement of 330,000 current and former WA public sector workers. Leading the finance, procurement, tax and corporate accounting teams totalling 25 staff through the outsourcing of the fund administration functions of the organisation. Key achievements • Successfully implement the outcomes from the Project Operations Forum saving 1FTE. • Supervise five areas of operations – financial accounting, management accounting, procurement and premises, tax and financial operations – 25 staff in total. Redesigned responsibility of month end procedures to reduce reporting days from day 15 to day 5; including analysis of the investment portfolio.• Designed and implemented a training and coaching strategy for each individual employee to ensure successful re-deployment after GESB was outsourced.

Welshpool

Operates a rail freight network that stretches more than 5,000 kilometres in Western Australia, generating in excess of $200M in revenue annually. With over 400 employees maintaining and operating the network. Key achievements • Reduce number of days required to report monthly to the parent company Multiplex (listed entity) from 28 days to 4 days, by building a month end workbook. • Develop a monthly budget/forecast model for 7 regions, covering line segments, within 3 months of starting. Control all cost centre spend and provide variance analysis, previously not supplied. • Provide reporting on Joint Venture project, $60M and external works projects in conjunction with Main Roads of $15M.• Successfully manage debt funding and maintain adequate cash position to comply with bank covenant restrictions. No breaches of bank covenants whilst under my control. • Maintain rail asset register over $1.17billion, including applying impairment measures across the lines.
