Education is a creative occupation. Curriculum development, reflection, reevaluation and a constant improvement of self are hallmarks of a good educator. I am expected to stay current in educational trends and research. I am constantly seeking professional development and collaboration venues to hone my craft-as educators, we benefit from the sum of our collective knowledge. Education is a fluid profession, and as an educator I understand the need to not become a stagnant presence.I am currently teaching Environmental Science and Marine Science at West Nassau High School in Nassau County. I hold a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UNF. I am currently certified through the state of Florida in Pre-K Primary Education with an ESOL Endorsement, Earth Space Science 6-12, Computer Science K-12, Middle Grades Science, and Middle Grades Math. I have 18 years of classroom experience at both primary and secondary level.My master’s degree in science education from FSU allowed me to pursue another passion. I am a firm believer in the value of a scientifically literate society. Young learners with a solid foundation in science education will become the critical thinkers and innovators of the future. I believe I am at my happiest when I am problem solving. I have never been afraid of working hard to achieve my goals. I enjoy working both independently and as a part of a team as needed. I love a challenge and thrive on finding creative solutions to problems. I believe in the power of education and hope to always be a part of that force.
