I am currently the Specialist Manager for the SQLD region for Workplace Health and Safety as part of the Australian Army Cadets (AAC) SQLD Brigade. As a WHS Safety Manager my core responsibility is to ensure that all ADF Personnel, AAC Volunteer Staff and Youth Members achieve a safe and effective training system that meets the national standard Youth Defence Policy and all legislative safety requirements. I am responsible for ensuring that all activities and functions within the cadets are compliant with all relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements such as the Australian Army Cadet Policy, Defence Youth Policy Manual and WHS Act 2011.As part of the Senior Leadership Team at SQLD AAC Brigade I provide policy and directive advice on Safety to the SQLD Brigade Commander. This allows the Brigade Commander to understand and make informed decisions on safety policy and directives within the region that directly affects the operation of the SQLD Units by ensuring that they are able to conduct AAC based activities. Some of the major achievements that I have been able to complete over the past four years have included:1. The successful transformation of the SQLD Brigade to the new and aligned National Youth Safety and Governance Assurance Policy.2. Safety Manager for the Army Compliance and Assurance Audit which was achieved with highest standards Nationally with no corrective items required.3. Recognised as the Lead investigator for three Comcare Investigations that were successfully completed with all our business practices being commended.4. Developed and conducted regional training programs for the implementation of the AAC Cadet Activities Management System Software (CADETNET).

CASE MANAGER PSU, ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY RESERVESI worked at HMAS Moreton as the Case Manager, In this position I was to help facilitate return to work and complex personnel support cases working autonomously. Due to the nature of the role I was required to help motivate, coach, lead and assist members returning to work in difficult situations or transition to the civilian workforce. I would liaise with key stakeholders, this included, medical specialists, workplace managers and Senior Navy staff throughout the transition period, to ensure that both Defence outcomes and members needs were met. This position was not in existance prior to my contract, I was engaged to impliment the business practices being the inital manager to start the program within the SQLD region.

At this time I took the decision to focus on having a child and wanted to still be working, so to have the ability to work from home and still care for my new born child I decided to manage my own Family day care scheme under the Beenleigh Family Day Care assistance scheme.

This role required me to assess individual candidate applications for service in the Australian Defence Force to ensure that the candidate met the basic requirements for the role that they were applying for. With the ability to build a rapport with a diverse range of people who were applying for positions in the ADF. Formulate reports on candidate’s interview and justify within reason why to recommend or not recommending an applicant. With diplomacy, compassion, analytical ability and strong communication abilities. I was required to conduct formal and informal lectures to large groups including with family members who had just been enlisted into the ADF as an integral member of the Careers Promotion Team, visiting schools and alike.

As the Food & Beverage and Operations manager, I was required to maintain equipment on the island as well as the restaurant needs such as managing finance, rosters, stock control and training of staff. I was the Food & Beverage Operations Manager to Five restaurants at Couran Cove Island Resort, similarly these duties included all hospitality duties inclusive management to large functions planning. Due to the remote transport too and from the Island, this was very demanding and challenging.
