My career in the Royal Australian Navy combined of 27 years and now continued in the Defence Industry as an APS. I have attained extensive experience in Customer Service with additional skills from my Hospitality positions in environments of extreme pressure. I am an experienced Health & Safety Manager with over 27 years. I have extensive experience leading health & safety teams, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures and maintaining compliance in line with legislation; implementing workplace Management programmes; and maintaining compliance to relevant company and government regulations whilst maintaining good relationships between team members. A strong communicator that works well under pressure, I thrive on achieving personal and professional goals by utilising initiative and working effectively within a team.     I am currently the Specialist Manager for the SQLD region for Workplace Health and Safety as part of the Australian Army Cadets (AAC) SQLD Brigade. As a WHS Safety Manager my core responsibility is to ensure that all ADF Personnel, AAC Volunteer Staff and Youth Members achieve a safe and effective training system that meets the national standard Youth Defence Policy and all legislative safety requirements. I am responsible for ensuring that all activities and functions within the cadets are compliant with all relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements such as the Australian Army Cadet Policy, Defence Youth Policy Manual and WHS Act 2011.As part of the Senior Leadership Team at SQLD AAC Brigade I provide policy and directive advice on Safety to the SQLD Brigade Commander. This allows the Brigade Commander to understand and make informed decisions on safety policy and directives within the region that directly affects the operation of the SQLD Units by ensuring that they are able to conduct AAC based activities. Some of the major achievements that I have been able to complete over the past four years have included:1. The successful transformation of the SQLD Brigade to the new and aligned National Youth Safety and Governance Assurance Policy.2. Safety Manager for the Army Compliance and Assurance Audit which was achieved with highest standards Nationally with no corrective items required.3. Recognised as the Lead investigator for three Comcare Investigations that were successfully completed with all our business practices being commended.4. Developed and conducted regional training programs for the implementation of the AAC Cadet Activities Management System Software (CADETNET).
