I collaborated with the Director, Clerk, Library Trustees, and Town department heads to set long- and short-term staffing, budgetary, and programming goals; developed library policies and procedures; and developed a reopening plan after the library was shuttered due to COVID-19. I served as Acting Director during the first months of the pandemic, continuing to run online programming and assisting patrons while the library was closed to staff and the public. As a Librarian, I developed and maintained the Children’s and Teen collections, making a point to expand collections to include diverse and underrepresented voices. I regularly led public events and engaged in school outreach, working with students, teachers, and school librarians to identify their needs and interests. My proudest achievement was partnering with students of the National Honor Society to create a reading partnership program for elementary and middle school students--those in high school earned volunteer hours while younger students could improve their reading fluency; my best memories are of holding storytimes for Kindergarteners of the Elmwood School.
