• Assume staff nurse and charge nurse role and staff nurse during day for 11 bed neuroscience intensive care unit and neuroscience step down units• Assume responsibility and delegation duties for other healthcare team members (RNs, LPNs, CNAs)• Direct the admissions, discharges, and general flow of patients.• Utilize expertise in prioritizing and assessing acute, complex events associated with neurological trauma, CVAs, seizure disorder, brain cancers ect.• Assign nurses and support staff to patients while assisting with any needs and administrative tasks. • Maintain flexibility to prioritize, triage, and adapt during emergencies or high stress situations. • Tri County and Anderson university preceptor

• Assume day and night charge and staff nurse role of a 30 bed acute medical/surgical unit while being responsible for other health care team members (RNs, LPNs, CNAs)• Assess and treat medical and surgical patients including general, vascular, urology, gynecology, orthopedics, plastics, and podiatry patients.• Utilize expertise with health promotion and prevention of acute and chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, congestive heart failure, and mental health. • Utilize expertise in prioritizing and assessing acute, complex events associated with medical and post-operative complications.• Experienced with telemetry monitoring• Participate in: VA Patient Belongings Inventory Policy Committee, Unit Base Council projects, Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) champion, Saint Petersburg College student preceptor for 120 hours, and RN residency mentor.

• Independently supervise a group of 20-30 residents, creating plans of care, assessing medical needs, providing medications and education to patients and families. • Work in collaboration with physicians, ARNPs, and other unlicensed assistive personnel including CNAs, dieticians, social workers. • Provide palliative/end-of-life care for hospice patients.
