In 1981, the Oregon State Bar created the Oregon Law Foundation as the charitable arm of the Bar primarily to raise funds for organizations that help the poor obtain access to legal services. Between 1982 and 1984, the Foundation created an Endowment Fund and raised $150,000 from contributions received from lawyers across the State. The interest earned from the endowment fund was given out as grants to law-related organizations that provided direct delivery of legal services; scholarships to minority law students; and law-related education.In addition to the Endowment Fund, the Foundation began the IOLTA Program (Interest On Lawyers Trust Accounts) on a voluntary basis in 1983. In 1988, the Oregon State Bar members voted to make the IOLTA program mandatory, and the Oregon Supreme Court approved the necessary rule changes, effective May 1, 1989. Since the IOLTA program became mandatory in 1989, the Oregon Law Foundation has awarded over $29,000,000 for charitable, law related purposes. The existence of IOLTA has allowed the Oregon Law Foundation to fund programs that provide civil legal services to people of lesser means helping to create greater access to justice in Oregon.

Traci will join Micah Ascano from Massachusetts, Matt Besmer from California and Beth Palmer from South Carolina as a 2014-15 ABA Law Practice Fellow. The Mission of the Division is to investigate, evaluate, develop, and disseminate information and techniques which make legal services more effective, competent, ethical, and responsive to the needs of clients and the public.

The Young Lawyers Section was created in 1980. Approximately one fourth of the MBA's members are "young lawyers" - members in practice less than six years or under the age of 36. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and fatal brain disease. As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, including my grandmother, Leah. The Alzheimer’s Association Oregon Chapter provides education and support for people diagnosed, their families, and caregivers. The Oregon Chapter reaches out to diverse communities by providing information and resources, 24/7 telephone help lines, local support groups and educational programs, an annual caregivers conference and a nationwide identification program, MedicAlert + Safe Return, for people with Alzheimer's disease who may wander and get lost.Our Mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.Our Vision: A world without Alzheimer's disease.
