Auxiliaries And Activities Business Center Payroll Coordinator
The Auxiliaries and Activities Business Center (AABC) serves ten auxiliary and student fee based units; including University Housing and Dining Services, Intercollegiate Athletics, Facilities and Business Services, Conference Services, Public Safety, Memorial Union, Recreational Sports, Student Health Services, and Counseling and Psychological services as well as the student organizations of the Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Student Leadership and Involvement, Educational Activities’, Diversity and Development, and other student clubs and activities.As payroll coordinator I assign and participate in the analysis, planning, interpreting, and review of payroll and fiscal operations of the AABC units. Broad managerial oversight over the following AABC payroll areas; transaction monitoring, time entry, unit reporting, unit budgeting/forecasting, unit fiscal analysis, check and statement requests and distribution, student and temporary employee timesheets and time reporting, Multiple Assignment management, EmpCenter reporting and timesheet maintenance, stipends uploads, AABC website management, payroll trainings and documentation, answering payroll related questions for employees and supervisors, and act as liaison to AABC human resources and central payroll. I maintain the highest degree of employee confidentiality, accuracy is critical as errors impact pay, retirement benefits and eligibility, and departments fiscal budgets.I supervise three employees: I assign work, developing work procedures that are consistent with policy, establish work schedules, monitor work performance and set goals and objectives. Evaluate employee performance, recommending personnel actions, interview and recommend the hiring of new staff members.I regularly coordinate staff meetings, coordinate and lead payroll debriefs, meet with human resources and central payroll teams, resolve disputes and prepare instructions and narrative or statistical data and reports.

Assisting unit and business center personnel daily with problem solving, compliance, and data entry matters via telephone, fax, and email. o Content included pay calculations and distribution, record entry and keeping, communication allowances, stipends, summer session appointments, overload pay and implementation and management of the deferred pay option for nine month employees•Responsible for payroll benefits program including receipt, review, and administration through the time entry system assuring appropriate tax codes are used in compliance with laws and policy. o Such deductions comprised of miscellaneous monthly deductions, self pay optional benefits and pay adjustments, staff fees, and taxable fringe benefits such as domestic partner insurance, personal use of state vehicles, tuition reduction, taxable moving expenses, and perquisites.•Auditing and analysis of Banner payroll records for accuracy with tracking and reporting of errors for improved proficiency and knowledge. o This role requires assurance that all applicable laws, rules and policy are correctly implemented and proper compliance is met requiring an in-depth knowledge and interpretation of such laws, rules and policy.•Report analysis and processing of invoice payment requests and JV actions through accounts payable. Interpreting reporting of miscellaneous deduction and writs collection, processing payment invoices and JV’s through Banner FIS, and distribution of these fees to outside entities.•Coordinate and direct student employee work. Schedule, coach, evaluate and monitor performance and responsibilities.

• Entry, verification, and maintenance of job and pay records for unclassified administrative and academic faculty appointment types including establishment of required deductions and correct tax coding based on employee type.• Preparation of timely and accurate pay for all employee types.o Creation of manual checks, verifying pay requests for accuracy and check calculations for proper related benefits and deductions. Administration of miscellaneous monthly payroll deductions, optional benefits and pay adjustments, leave without pay, and taxable fringe benefit deductions including personal use of state vehicles, perquisites, taxable moving expenses, tuition reductions and domestic partner insurance.• Assistance with business center implementation requiring creation of content and delivery of training and instruction material regarding payroll related systems, procedures, and rules as well as policy and guidelines for unit workflow.
