Occupational Health and Safety

Work with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures. Responsible for preventing accidents in business and job sites. Ensure that offices and job sites meet safety and health requirements and then apply corrective measures if necessary. Create programs such as company policies, investigate in cases of accidents, and implement post-injury follow up procedures for workers.

•Provide advice and direction on matters of HSSE to OSECs and operational and office staff with matters that relate to HSSE•Act as the point for communication between the Corporate HSSE team and local operations•Work with the Regional Leader and local management team to determine HSSE direction and ensure compliance with Stantec's HSSE systems including the Program Manual and Safe Work Practices• Promote HSSE within the Region with a goal of continuous improvement of HSSE culture, such as the promotion of Leading Indicators• Assist in the development of annual OSEC objectives and manage their performance throughout the year, such as the annual updates of Emergency Response Planning and Occupational Safety and Health Administration postings, audit preparations and other roles placed upon the local leadership and their OSECs• Chair monthly Regional OSEC meetings.• Participate in Regional Safety Committee meetings• Manage incoming incidents, hazard identifications, etc. and the track the resulting corrective actions• Conduct investigations under the direction of the Regional HSSE Manager• Work with the Corporate HSSE team to develop and implement policies, rules, practices and procedures as required• Engage in HSSE communication activities through Business Center (BC) meeting attendance, the use of newsletters, bulletins, reports and Stantec's intranet• Manage the Regional ergonomic program and assist OSECs in conducting ergonomic assessments• Manage the Regional inspection program to ensure all facilities are inspected monthly and corrective actions have been implemented• Assist in the purchasing of Personal Protective Equipment • Liaise with the Workers' Compensation Claims CoordinatorLead Safety and Environment Coordinator Assist the Geographic Leader or Regional Leader to coordinate the day-to-day operation of the HSSE Program and OHSMS in an area or practice where there are twenty-five OSECs with whom I needed to coordinate
