I'm kind of a law nerd. While the thrill of the courtroom can be exciting, I also like the thrill of finding the perfect cases to advance my arguments. I have over 24 years of civil litigation and appellate experience. When I was an attorney in a mid-sized law firm, I handled various civil litigation matters and appeals, from employment to insurance coverage and bad faith to personal injury. I did it all: argued at hearings, assisted with trials, attended mediations, and took and defended depositions all over Texas. Now I handle civil appeals and help other attorneys do something that many find boring: legal research and writing! Call me weird, but I actually like studying appellate records. An attorney I have worked with for many years says she no longer has to pull her hair out struggling with appeals and petitions for writ of mandamus because now she can just hand them off to me. Attorneys who don't have the time, desire, or resources for legal research and writing hire me to do it. I do research and write pleadings, motions/responses/replies, and briefs. Because being a good legal writer and being a good litigator are different skills sets, having an experienced writer on your team can result in better outcomes. I use Westlaw. Having done all the "litigator things" like handling hearings, taking/defennding depositions, and attending mediations, I bring practical experience to every case I help with. You can bounce ideas off me; I love discussing litigation strategy.Being an appellate attorney also guides me when writing pleadings, motions, responses, replies and briefs for trial courts. For example, I write motions for summary judgment and make objections I feel I can defend on appeal.I also represent my own clients directly; they are referrals and longtime clients who have trusted me over the years with their legal matters.I am licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit.I love to travel and eat. I have been to Peru, Thailand, Egypt, China, and various places in Europe. I was actually in Thailand (Phuket Island) when the 2004 tsunami devastated Southeast Asia. It was an experience I will never forget. I did triathlons, century bike rides, and MS 150 rides before I got married and started my family. Now any swimming, biking, and running I do is with my family or at the gym. Both my girls swim on summer and club swim teams. I'm a very proud and very loud swim mom.
