My love for all things arts, media, and cinema led me to pursue a B.A. degree in Cinema-Television from the University of Southern California and an M.A. degree in Cinema & Media Studies from the University of Chicago. However, my tenure as the 2010-2012 Consortium for Faculty Diversity fellow at Reed College (Portland, OR) cemented my true calling for higher education. There, I facilitated film and media courses on topics exploring race, gender, and religion in American cinematic and popular culture.Inspired by my experience as an Admissions Counselor at the University of Chicago, I launched the Renaissance Strategy Group to help high school students prepare their college admission applications. I am proud to say that I've mentored students who have matriculated to schools such as Pepperdine, University of Chicago, USC film school, Hampton, and the University of Zaragoza in Spain to name a few.In 2018, I answered the call to teach young learners in K-12 education. I worked as a guest teacher at my high school alma mater and later was a full-time third grade teacher for two years. This hands-on experience in the K-12 school environment has only enhanced my expertise in guiding students on their college and career journey.In 2022, I served in an Admissions role at a career college that educates nurses and medical professions adding yet another specialty--health care education-- to my knowledge base.In my free time, I enjoy dancing to BTS and weeping over the art work depicting Marian Andersen at the Wynn Casino. When I’m not doing that I’m trying to convince all my art friends that AI art has more in common with cinema and media than fine art. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
