The online Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education program is designed for the Elementary and/or Special Education paraeducator at the Early Childhood to 6th grade level who wishes to become a licensed teacher at the Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education (K-6) level. Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP) is built around the philosophy of an “inverted curriculum,” meaning many of the “professional” courses are at the front end of the program to focus on heightening the skills of paraeducators in their current position. The goal is to increase success in the classroom from the beginning and then build on those strengths through the program. The student earns college credit for experience as a para every semester which will apply toward the degree. I design courses and support that primarily utilize Blackboard and Zoom.

I served as the principal of an elementary school that offers Kindergarten - 5th grade. The school has 530 students and focuses on real world application, social-emotional learning, community engagement, and personalized learning. In the summer of 2019, we were granted approval by the Kansas State Department of Education to launch our Gemini II School Redesign strategic plan. I believe in shared leadership and strive to build capacity in all staff.

I coordinated and facilitated professional learning for the district, which included district-level professional learning communities, new teacher induction programming, and chairing the district's professional development council. I also co-planned and facilitated monthly administrator meetings. Additionally, I planned and implemented the district's year-long pilot of an elementary core English language arts and reading curriculum adoption. I successfully wrote a grant that provided leadership training for district employees through the Kansas Leadership Center.

This process involved engaging stakeholders from across the state in writing, revising, editing, and publishing curriculum alignment and instructional products used by hundreds of school districts in Texas. I supervised permanent and contract staff and was responsible for meeting tight deadlines. Responsibilities also included designing and delivering professional learning, assisting with planning and executing a state-wide conference with 5000 attendees, providing input on the design of an online curriculum management platform, and establishing positive relationships with customers.

I specialized in literacy and strategies for English language learners. I served as the Team Lead for our department, which involved assisting with hiring, supervising, and evaluating employees.

I supported online and digital solutions designed for high school credit and credit recovery. I assisted districts in designing custom courses aligned with state standards and district requirements for core and elective purposes. I also supported a variety of solutions tailored for elementary aged students who needed intervention or enrichment.
