Director Of Instruction And Intervention
Adjunct Instructor, Success Coach, & Course Designer - Teacher Apprentice Program (Tap)
The online Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education program is designed for the Elementary and/or Special Education paraeducator at the Early Childhood to 6th grade level who wishes to become a licensed teacher at the Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education (K-6) level. Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP) is built around the philosophy of an “inverted curriculum,” meaning many of the “professional” courses are at the front end of the program to focus on heightening the skills of paraeducators in their current position. The goal is to increase success in the classroom from the beginning and then build on those strengths through the program. The student earns college credit for experience as a para every semester which will apply toward the degree. I design courses and support that primarily utilize Blackboard and Zoom.
Principal - Robert M. Martin Elementary School
I served as the principal of an elementary school that offers Kindergarten - 5th grade. The school has 530 students and focuses on real world application, social-emotional learning, community engagement, and personalized learning. In the summer of 2019, we were granted approval by the Kansas State Department of Education to launch our Gemini II School Redesign strategic plan. I believe in shared leadership and strive to build capacity in all staff.
Professional Learning Coordinator
I coordinated and facilitated professional learning for the district, which included district-level professional learning communities, new teacher induction programming, and chairing the district's professional development council. I also co-planned and facilitated monthly administrator meetings. Additionally, I planned and implemented the district's year-long pilot of an elementary core English language arts and reading curriculum adoption. I successfully wrote a grant that provided leadership training for district employees through the Kansas Leadership Center.
Literacy Curriculum Coach, Team Leader
I built teacher capacity and agency through professional learning and collaborative experiences focused on curriculum development and alignment. I coordinated a variety of stakeholder groups who were involved in writing and reviewing instructional unit guides for K-5 ELA content and standards. I assisted in refining MTSS practices by establishing curriculum protocols to ensure that intervention resources were evidence based and implemented as designed. I served on the new teacher induction team and designed and delivered professional learning and support aimed at retaining newly hired educators.
Assistant Director, General Education Services
I led a team of innovative educators to design, market and deliver exceptional services to regional customers. Services included customized professional development, campus-based instructional coaching, specialty conferences, content specific institutes, e-learning, technology integration, and curriculum development.
Coordinator, Language Arts And Reading
I coordinated the development and maintenance of a statewide curriculum management system for K-12 English and Spanish Language Arts state standards. This process involved engaging stakeholders from across the state in writing, revising, editing, and publishing curriculum alignment and instructional products used by hundreds of school districts in Texas. I supervised permanent and contract staff and was responsible for meeting tight deadlines. Responsibilities also included designing and delivering professional learning, assisting with planning and executing a state-wide conference with 5000 attendees, providing input on the design of an online curriculum management platform, and establishing positive relationships with customers.
Education Specialist/Team Lead
I collaborated with a team of specialists to provide professional learning and technical support focused on curriculum and instruction for 77 area school districts. I specialized in literacy and strategies for English language learners. I served as the Team Lead for our department, which involved assisting with hiring, supervising, and evaluating employees.
Agency Education Consultant
I designed and delivered in-person and virtual professional learning and technical support for K-12 customers throughout the country. I supported online and digital solutions designed for high school credit and credit recovery. I assisted districts in designing custom courses aligned with state standards and district requirements for core and elective purposes.
