I am passionate about care and have been for as long as I can remember. Not just caring as a career but also nurturing colleagues, friends and family, helping them to develop professionally and realise their goals. I work hard at what I do, I am ambitious, I make plans and aim to achieve them through good organisation and determination, wherever I have worked I have always progressed within the company by taking on extra responsibilities, completing training courses and learning from those that I work with. I pride myself on providing person centred care, treating everybody as an individual and not losing sight of their spiritual, cultural, religious and social needs. I support my team to achieve this too.Throughout my personal and professional life, I have experience of supporting people from all walks, young, older, people with mental health issues, nursing needs, dementia, physical disabilities and learning difficulties.I have learnt that achieving a good work/life balance is not about prioritising one aspect over another, it’s about making the right choices each day, week or month. As a single parent I have been guilty of missing the occasional sports day or spring show in order to focus on a business need. I make up for this by ensuring that I do have my quality time with my family. My children are older now and have learnt to be independent, responsible and socially conscious. My down time is often spent with my children, my family and friends at music concerts, festivals or relaxing under canvas.The passions of others intrigue me. I like to get to know the people that I work with, those that I provide care for and the team that I manage. I want to hear about their history and what they want to get out of their future whether they are 18 or 98 and whether their goals are small or grand.I am an honest, hard-working, conscientious and approachable person. I lead by example. I am objective and encourage my team and colleagues to share their views with me, there is always more to learn.
