Involved the development of ElefantAsia’s elephant conservation and fundraising strategy for projects in Laos and Myanmar. I also wrote content for the organisation's new website.

AFESIP Laos (Acting for Women in Distressing Circumstances) works to combat the causes and consequences of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and women in Laos and across the region. Within this role, I successfully facilitated coordination of activities under three teams (11 staff) including prevention and outreach, legal protection, and communications and advocacy. I successfully secured US$ 424,000 in funding for the programme.

Working in collaboration with the Sabah Wildlife Department, international non-governmental organisation (INGO) Orangutan Appeal UK is dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of Orangutans and species habitat throughout Malaysian and Indonesian Borneo. Based at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sabah, the primary role of the Liaison Officer is to facilitate communication between the Malaysian government and the UK based INGO, whilst supporting in-situ fundraising and increased environmental awareness as to the plight of the endangered Orangutan via the visitors centre.This role also involved creating various branded marketing tools to promote and raise the profile of the Orangutan Appeal UK organisation within the visitors centre, whilst building local social networks to increase fundraising capacity.

French-based INGO ElefantAsia works in Laos to conserve the Asian elephant. As Project Manager I was responsible for the planning, management and implementation of the Lao Elephant Care and Management Programme under which the INGO provided free veterinary care to working elephants via monthly mobile missions and worked to register and micro-chip the captive elephant population, this forming a national computerised database. My primary focus within this role was to secure future funding for the organisation through strategic proposal writing and identification of new funding opportunities, both nationally and internationally. Recent and current donors include the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund and the Asian Elephant Foundation as well as International Elephant Foundation and Wildlife Reserves Singapore

Based in Vientiane, capital of Laos the role involved supervision and completion of the organisations environmental education project ‘Lao Elephant Community Awareness Program Phase II’, implementing activities such as the elephant libraries which delivered Lao language resources to rural schools In Sayaboury province utilising retired logging elephants, as well as creating and distributing informative and educational materials. Strategic fundraising together with donor reporting were also fundamental responsibilities within this role.

As member of the development team, my primarily role was to secure future funding, producing technical proposals and concepts, together with logical frameworks and associated budgets. These included the concept Empowerment and development of rural Women within Southern Lao Landscape which worked to promote gender focused opportunities within the management of National Protected Areas. Additionally I produced several key species and landscape focused resources aligned with WWF brand utilising.

Located in Bontebok National Park, I worked within the People and Conservation department (P&C) with primary focus on building relationships with the Park and neighbouring communities post Apartheid through the provision of environmental education (EE) to local schools and visiting groups. In the absence of a P&C Officer, I managed the P&C department for the first three months of my internship, reporting directly to the Park Manager, writing business plans, reports and regulating budgets. As Secretariat to the Parks Forum, Swellendam Protected Areas Forum and Honorary Rangers I arranged quarterly meetings and events as well as conducting minute taking. The greatest achievement for me personally was my involvement in the ‘Kids in Parks’ programme when I worked directly with over 700 ‘previously disadvantaged’ children.
