Related stresses and strains in the tibia to fatigue fractures in athletes. Study done using motion capture data and finite element analysis. Collected gait data using a Vicon motion capture system. Worked closely with engineers and sports scientists.

Collaborative design project between Stanford University and Advanced Bio-Surfaces. Designed and constructed an ankle motion machine and test procedure to evaluate the stability of the OrthoGlide™ Ankle Implant. Used SolidWorks to develop design ideas. Machine utilized Matlab and LabView programming. Served as project leader for a team based design project.

“The Effect of Gender and Size on Linear Accelerations of the Head During Daily Activities”(5/05 - 8/05)Measured linear accelerations of the head during daily activities using an innovative bite-plate system. Collaborated with PhD students. Findings presented at the 2006 International Biomedical Sciences Instrumentation Symposium.“Bone Mineral Density and its Relationship to Mechanical Properties of the Rib Cortical Bone” (8/04 - 12/04)Investigated the effect of aging and gender on bone mineral density and bone structure. Determined the local BMD and percent mineralization for human rib cortical bone coupons. Results published in the 2005 Stapp Car Crash Journal.“The Determination of Suitable Parameters for Eye Injury Risk from Projectiles” (5/03 - 12/03)Evaluated the relationship between projectile characteristics and eye injuries. Determined significant predictors of eye injury based on a parametric statistical data analysis using Minitab. Findings have been published in The Journal of Trauma and technical presentations.

Evaluated the effect of airbag and steering wheel design on frontal occupant performance. Performed data analysis for sled and out-of-position test series. Occupant performance results documented in GM technical reports.
