As an Assistant Structural Detailer in the Process and Industrial Division of Burns and McDonnell, I worked with a wide variety of our refining clients designing piperack and foundation layouts while collaborating with other disciplines to complete the projects. After working in the CSA group for nearly five years, I moved within the company to the Food and Consumer Products (F&CP) group in January of 2009. This new role was Staff Mechanical Designer, and in this position, I created mechanical equipment and layout drawings for permit and IFC documentation as well as P&IDs for several of our Food and Consumer clients.Along with the design aspect, I was heavily involved in field work during the construction phases of our projects. While on site, I was responsible for conducting audits and managing pre-work and main shutdowns. During this time, the construction manager relied on me to problem solve any design issues as well as ensure the project was completed on time and in a safe manner.In January of 2016, I accepted the position of Estimator in our Construction Design Build Group. In this position I am responsible for estimating projects for our Food & Consumer Products Group. This includes reviewing drawings, gathering quantities from the engineering team, participating in bid walks and bid shakeouts with subcontractors, management review sessions, valued engineering sessions and delivering estimates to our clients as requested. Within this role I get the opportunity to do onsite construction field support, field engineering.
