I started my career as an Administrative Assistant in the Court of Common Pleas. In that position I was responsible for coordinating staff meetings, arranging luncheons, making travel plans, creating presentations and performed general office tasks. From there I transitioned to working from home and started my own company providing medical transcription to area physicians because I loved the idea of being my own boss. My company grew from one client to needing a business partner to keep up, and managing approximately a dozen remote independent contractors at a time. I arranged marketing and met with potential clients to increase our overall revenue, negotiating with medical and office professionals to create contracts that met everyone's needs. I performed all of the hiring and recruiting of staff as well as bookkeeping and payroll. When the medical transcription market changed and the need for that service decreased overall, I decided to return to school in a more hands-on way in the medical field. I obtained my Associates of Applied Science as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I worked in that field for five years, during which time I coordinated patient visits, maintained my own weekly schedule and provided occupational therapy to patients in their homes and in hospital and assisted living settings. I thoroughly enjoyed the work; however, it is difficult to find full-time employment in that field. At this time I am looking for a full-time job that will allow me to utilize all of my skills, whether that be in an office setting or otherwise. I look forward to growing with a company and invite the opportunity to learn new tasks and become a long-term member of a team.
