About Tracy Dodson, Phd, Msn, Rn, Cen

I love Modeling!My runway is nursing education and I am styled by the belief that as educators we can always do more to help students learn and grow in their craft. I differ (ever so slightly) from fabulous supermodels as I love expert modeling. Like Albert Bandura, I believe that expert modeling helps students understand expectations, realize different modalities of patient education and care, improve clinical practice, and provides an overall enhanced learning experience within educational settings. Although modeling may be applied to many different aspects of nursing education, my research focus is on the use of expert-modeling videos in nursing education (i.e., in the classroom, skills lab, and in simulation). My goal is to explore and develop guidance for innovative teaching strategies to better prepare new graduate nurses for practice. I love looking at how we as nursing educators can continue to promote best learning practices for tomorrows nurses. In an age of distant learning, continuing research into best educational practices is essential. Additionally, in an age of increasing simulated experiences, my goal is to find methods for which to enhance nursing students abilities to translate theory to practice.
