About Tracy E. Green

Tracy E. Green is a judge of the Third Circuit Court of Michigan. She is assigned to the Criminal Division where she presides over Wayne County felony cases. Prior to taking the bench, she had been a practicing attorney with over twenty years experience.For its first seven years, Tracy was the legal director of Detroit Center for Family Advocacy, a multi-disciplinary legal services program of The University of Michigan Law School's Child Advocacy Law Clinic whose mission is to reduce the number of children in state foster care in Wayne County, Michigan. She has extensive experience in the field of child welfare, both as a practicing attorney and a former foster care case manager. Throughout her more than 20 years of professional involvement in the child welfare system, her working philosophy has always been that zealous advocacy for parents and caregivers in child welfare matters is critical to the effective advocacy of children and their families, as a whole. Tracy is an award-winning, twice-published attorney. She works throughout the state of Michigan on several boards and task forces which are engaged in child welfare system reform, family preservation and the promotion of child well-being. She is also a national and statewide child welfare speaker and trainer.Tracy attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from nationally renowned Cass Technical High School. She received both bachelor of social work and juris doctorate degrees from Wayne State University, located in the heart of Detroit, Michigan.
